#21: Not ashamed to admit we’re Christian. Or Jewish. Or whatever.

By Staff Reports | December 11, 2011

Reason 21Just like Texas Governor Rick Perry, Transition Voice isn’t ashamed to admit that we’re Christian.

And Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Wiccan, Druidic, humanist and straight-up atheist.

Unlike some folks who care about environmental sustainability and energy depletion, we’re also not ashamed to talk about religion at the dinner table. We mean, on our website.

That’s because we think that helping our readers become more resilient in the face of Biblical challenges like peak oil and climate change may require guidance from a Higher Power. And whether that power is a creator God, an Earth deity or just the wordless, sublime wisdom found deep in the human heart, we welcome an open and vibrant discussion on the power of inspiration.

That’s why we have a Spirit section which we’ve filled with blessings from the Christian (“Waste and wisdom in the Gulf”) to the Buddhist (“The Meditation of the Red Pill”) to secular humanism (“Yes, Virginia, humanism can be a religion”) to a variety of pieces integrating the head and heart into everyday issues from parenting to eating.
