If you’re a fan of cartoon robots that swear like Dave Chappelle in slow, syllable-enunciating computer-generated voices, then “Have You Heard about Peak Oil?” by Noodles/xtranormal is the video for you. It starts off with the direct approach:
“Have you heard about peak oil?”
“I don’t want to hear anything about your global warming bullshit. It’s a hoax perpetrated by the socialist Democrats who want to control our lives and tax us to death. Cap-and-trade is designed to push us towards a global government that will make slaves out of all of us. If you believe in anthropogenic global warming, you are a Kool Aid-drinking Commie.”
“Holy balls. Let’s take one giant fucking step back. Who said anything about global warming?”
And from there the conversation goes on to how “treehugging hippies won’t let us drill for oil,” the US oil peak in 1970, the peak in discovery in the 1930s, reserves in Alaska, offshore and unconventional oil, net energy, whether the Dixie Chicks are un-American, hydrogen and corn ethanol and how the best advice to prepare for peak oil sounds a lot like what you’ve already heard from Glenn Beck.
This video gives you the ammunition you need to refute the common arguments against peak oil.
Try them out the next time you’re talking with a Fox News fan. No need to use the robot voice though.
