Could gold become money again?

Last Friday night, after a day of live blogging the ASPO-USA conference near Capitol Hill, I walked ten blocks over the the Washington Convention Center to join Occupy DC and some environmental groups in a protest against the Koch brothers. Don't expect to hear that the age of cheap oil might be coming to an end in President Obama's next State of the Union speech. When my friends with green groups dismiss peak oil as a propaganda campaign run by the oil industry to scare the public into chanting "drill, baby drill," I smile. Hey, I care about peak oil but I'm also an environmentalist from way back, I protest. The Sierra Club card -- I won't leave home without it. Climate change scares the crap out of me.
